Stay in summer or Walk into fall?

Stay in summer or Walk into fall?

Everyday, as I pace around my table, the calendar keeps remind me, how time flies—it’s mid-August already. That familiar signal: the traditional summer is winding down. For Chinese children, the long summer vacation is nearing its end. But with the vast climate differences between north and south, east and west, our summer experiences are never quite the same.

The days leading up to "Start of Autumn"—one of the twenty-four solar terms in ancient Chinese wisdom—have already slipped by. The rhythm of sowing in spring and harvesting in autumn still carries the quiet genius of Chinese ancestors, a timeless reminder of nature's cycle.

I imagine people in the U.S. and Canada feel the same way—how, within one country, temperatures can tell completely different stories. Same season, countless versions of heat and cool.

But no matter where we are, summer is beginning to say its goodbyes.

Right now, we're still in the grip of rising temperatures. And yet, I know so many people who hate summer are already looking forward to what comes next—fall leaves drifting down, gentle winds, cooler air, hills turning brown and gold under a softer sun.

Even the stores have shifted into autumn tones, with summer sales calling out their final offers. It seems like everyone is moving toward fall without hesitation, without a backward glance.

So what do we do with this change?

I just love summer deeply. It's the only season when I can see the brightest sunlight, the bluest skies, and green spilling everywhere—even if the heat makes me sweat.

It goes without saying that the weather affects people's moods. I want to happy everyday, that’s the reason why I love summer.

But is it really time to say goodbye?

Is there anyone else out there who feels the same—who wishes summer could stay just a little longer, or never end at all?

Leave your thoughts below, my dear friend. I'd love to hear your story.
