Brides-to-be often spend a great deal of thought on how to create their bridal bouquet. In China, brides feel the same way. The bridal bouquet is generally one of the most important elements of the wedding venue decor and wedding photography. Jokingly speaking, its importance can be said to be second only to the groom himself.

So how do you choose a bouquet that's right for you? From the perspective of professional floral design, we need to consider these questions:

1.What is the overall color scheme of your wedding?

2.What color is your wedding dress?

3.What is the style of your wedding dress? (This determines which bouquet shapes suit your wedding best.)

4.Where is your wedding — outdoors or indoors?

All of these need to be taken into consideration.

Many brides are very busy with work and leave the entire bouquet design to their wedding planning team, in which case they don't need to spend too much time thinking about it. But if you want to control the key details of your own wedding, you probably have plenty of great ideas about what kind of bouquet you want — you just don't know how to make them happen.

Step 1: What is your wedding's color scheme? Decide on a suitable color palette first.

Wedding color schemes vary by season:

For Spring:

pure white, white + green, white + pink

For Summer:

pure white, white + blue, white + green, pure blue, blue + white + beige

For Autumn:

pure brown, brown + red, brown + beige

For Winter:

pure white, white + red, pure red, red + green

Only after determining this can you decide what colors your bouquet needs.

Step 2: What color is your wedding dress? Choose a bouquet in a similar color or as an accent color.

White wedding dress: It can pair with virtually any mainstream color — pure pink, white + beige + green, white + blue, white + purple, and so on. It goes with almost everything.

Tip: Sometimes you also need to consider the color of the outfit of the person beside you (your groom). After all, there are many moments when the two of you will be photographed together.

Beige wedding dress: Beige, like white, is versatile, but a beige dress gives a gentler, softer impression than white.

Step 3: What is the style of your wedding dress? Choose the bouquet shape after the dress is decided.

Common bouquet shapes include round, butterfly, free-form, and teardrop. Generally speaking, the teardrop shape suits taller brides and dresses with a cinched waist. The round shape is versatile for any wedding. Free-form bouquets suit dresses with a strong design sense (referring to color, material, silhouette, etc.).

Step 4: Is the wedding outdoors or indoors? Real flowers or artificial flowers?

If you choose real flowers:

Common main wedding flowers include calla lilies, Phalaenopsis orchids, roses, and dahlias. On this foundation, you can add other accent flowers and foliage to create different looks. These are chosen mainly because they can hold their shape for a relatively long time after being cut and dehydrated — though this applies if the wedding is indoors and the temperature is suitable (generally on the cooler side). If it's an outdoor wedding in hot weather, you need to choose flowers that can maintain their shape even after prolonged dehydration.

If you want to choose artificial flowers:

You probably already know about the dehydration problem real flowers face indoors and outdoors. The advantage of artificial flowers is that they have no dehydration limitation, so in theory you can choose any flower you like for your arrangement.

How to make the bride's Artificial Bouquet?

Step 1: Decide on the overall color scheme.

Step 2: After determining the color and style of the wedding dress, choose flowers in suitable colors.

Step 3: Pick one main flower first. Rose, Dahlia, Calla lily and so on.

Feel free to boldly choose the type of flower you want, then choose a suitable color — because most artificial flowers come in a rich variety of colors, you can pick any color you like. (But you still need to pay attention to color coordination.)

Step 4: Once the type and color of the main flower are decided, work out the color pairing plan. It's best to use no more than 3 colors. Sometimes too many colors equals clutter and a lack of focus. A simple color palette paired with the right shape is what makes a bouquet truly distinctive.

Step 5: After the color plan is set, choose foliage or secondary flowers in corresponding colors (it's recommended that secondary flowers be smaller than the main flowers).

Tip: If you can't find suitable companion flowers or artificial leaves, you can actually use real flowers too. Mixing real flowers with artificial flowers can produce a surprisingly beautiful effect.

Step 6: Once the bridal bouquet is decided, reduce the flower quantity to design the bridesmaid bouquets, boutonnieres, and flower crowns.
